When I first put the term "Jaguar" into the Google Search Bar, they kept giving me things about the animal .. so I decided to be more specific and put "Jaguar &
Jaguar Wheels "; I cannot tell you how much that helped me.
It’s really called Jaguar Cars Ltd., but everyone knows it simply as "Jaguar". It is a British Luxury Car Manufacturer that has its headquarters in Whitley, Coventry, England. Jaguar is a relatively new car manufacturer when you compare it to the other companies that are selling their vehicles.
Jaguar was first founded and known as the Swallow Sidecar Company; it was founded by a man named Sir William Lyons in 1922. The company was given the name "Jaguar" when the "SS" name was dropped because of the association it had with the Germany's SS military organization that was pretty publicized. Since cash was pretty short after the war had happened, Jaguar sold to Rubery Owen. Owen was a company that was growing and seemed pretty promising to the Jaguar Corporation.
Jaguar had made a name for itself by making a series of sports cars that were honestly, pretty eye-catching. Jaguar still makes cars like that! Especially the XK8 model with
2009 Jaguar XK8 Rims .. have you seen them? They might as well go on a Bentley. Just the
Jaguar XK8 Rims alone make a statement and express how nice the car can be inside AND out.
Their slogan was "Grace, Space, Pace"; a motto that summarized their awesome record sales! I think that this motto would even be appropriate if they used it today, right?
In 1966, Jaguar had decided to merge with the British Motor Corporation; this created BMH - British Motor Holdings. After they had merged with Leyland, the resultant company then had become the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC); all this took place in 1968. There were some financial difficulties at the time and the publication of the Ryder Report had then led to effective nationalization in 1975. After this, the company eventually became British Leyland, Ltd.
By 1989, Ford had made different offers to the US Jaguar and UK Jaguar shareholders to buy their shares in November of that year. Ten years later in 1999, Jaguar became a decent part of Ford's new Premier Automotive Group; this group had included Aston Martin and Volvo Cars. Between Ford buying Jaguar in 1989 and then selling it in 2008, Ford didn’t make any real profit; what a waste, huh?
In recent years, Jaguar has produced cars for the Prime Minister! The most recent car that they made was an XJ model and it was distributed on May 11, 2010. Can you imagine the privilege that the company had just to get that done? The Jaguar company even holds Royal Warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Charles. Doesn’t that just go to show how much of a history this company has?
They Jaguar cars that you see on the lots today are designed in Jaguar/Land Rover's engineering centers that are at the Whitley plant in Coventry. They are also designed at the plant at Gaydon in Warwickshire.
If I had the luxury of buying a Jaguar, I don’t think I would. I think that the cars are a little too long for me to drive - but that’s just me. Would you buy the car? What would you add to it if you did buy it?
